BOTW Player of the Year 2013/14 – Nominations openPosted: 28/02/2014
With February ending today and the end of the current campaign drawing nigh, Banners On The Wall is back with it’s Player of the Year award for the 2013/14 EPIHL season.
After great success with the 2012/13 award where Joe Rand was awarded the inaugural “Edijs Brahmanis Trophy”, it is time to get down to business with this year’s award.
The format will follow the same as last season’s competition. There will be a week for fans to nominate a player of their choosing to be player of the year for whatever reason you so choose. Once a player gets at least 3 nominations they qualify for the final.
The nominations are open as of right now and will last until 11:59pm on Friday 7th March 2014. Everybody gets one choice, no voting for multiple players.
You can vote in a variety of ways:
- As a comment on this post
- Tweeting your selection to @84arussell on Twitter
- In person if you see me
- Email (along with your stories of course) to email@example.com with the subject “player of the year”
Once nominations end next Friday, a winner will be chosen from those who have qualified from your votes. I am privileged to be joined by all of our returning panel from last year. Including me, choosing the winner will be;
Grant King of 5 Hole Photography, the official Bison Photographer (visit the site, buy a print)
Jamie Walker, writer for the Bison website and former Basingstoke junior player
Hannah Driver, Bison off ice official, schools coordinator and utility player for the Bracknell Firebees of Women’s Div 1 South
Nigel “Moose” Simmonds, Bison super fan, last year’s winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award at the club’s end of season awards night and finalist for Ice Hockey UK’s “Fan of the Century”
Once we’ve had our requisite discussions, the winner will be announced here on the blog and the winner will be presented with their prize at the next available opportunity. When it’s announced depends on how long it takes us to decide but expect an announcement between the 2nd leg of the cup final and the home game vs Sheffield on the 15th March.
Will Joe Rand retain his title? Will a Brit or an import take the title? The nominations are open and up to you. Happy voting!
